Setting up your work schedule

At the beginning of each semester, you will be asked to develop a work schedule with your immediate supervisor.  Library student staff may be asked to work at night or on a weekend. You will need to adhere to this schedule throughout the semester.  Should you need to change any part of your schedule, you will need the approval of your supervisor. Students will be expected to report to work when scheduled unless prior arrangements have been made with the supervisor. 

We expect you to be on time! If you cannot avoid being late, you must call in or email library@chowan.edu to inform the staff that you are late and what time you expect to arrive. Being late should be the exception, not the rule. 

In the event you need to be absent, please inform your supervisor in person or in writing (library@chowan.edu) as soon as you know. You are required to find a replacement for your allotted hours. Send an email to the entire work-study group whitaker-lib-student-staff@chowan.edu

Signing in and out of work

Using google.hangouts.com. Be sure the library staff member on duty signs you in at the beginning and end of each shift and again when you leave. 

  • The pay period runs from the 26th - 25th. For example September 26th - October 25th.
  • Your time card is sent to the Financial Aid Office on the 26th of each month.
  • Paychecks are calculated and ready for you to pick up from the Business Office on the 5th of each month. (If the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday you will get paid earlier)
  •  A copy of your time card will be provided for you.
