Dress Code

Please represent yourself in a professional manner in the way you dress for work.  Remember that when you are working, you represent the Library and Chowan and should present yourself accordingly. Examples of items to wear to work are as follows:

  1. Chowan apparel.
  2. Golf shirts, T-shirts (nothing provocative), blouses
  3. Jeans, slacks, walking shorts;
  4. Tennis shoes, dress shoes, sandals – slides, flip-flops acceptable. 

The exceptions to the Chowan University dress code are as follows:

  1. No tank tops or camisoles, no strapless tops, muscle shirts or mid-drift shirts.
  2. No clothing with holes.
  3. Pants should fit – no sagging or low-cut that shows underwear.
  4. No pajamas or bedroom slippers.

If you should come to work dressed inappropriately, you will be asked to go home and change into something that is appropriate for the work environment.  You will not be paid during the time that you are gone to change your clothing.
